ProP 5.1

Proud Parent Update - Like I said, we introduced Malik to the exciting world of solid foods on his 5th month birthday. For his first meal, Malik had Earth's Best Organic Whole Grain Rice Cereal.

We watered it down with formula, like so -

Earth's Best organic baby food is available at your friendly neighborhood Healthy Options store. A huge pack of this rice cereal costs around PhP140. The smaller version costs the same. Unless you're raising twins, however, I suggest you just get the smaller version. Babies eat in really small portions, so the remainder would have to go to waste if you buy in bulk.Sayang lang.

I don't know if Malik should be eating solid food at dinner time, but this was the only time when we could eat together, so we went ahead and had him eat with us. Here we go, honey. Open your cute little mouth -

After a few teaspoonfuls, Malik started getting irritable. We reckon he was hungry already and the rice cereal didn't satisfy his appetite as much as milk does.

Of course, I had to have what my baby was eating, so I tried the darn thing myself.

Earth's Best Infant Cereals are USDA Organic. Meaning, they are made without growth hormones, antibiotics, steroids, potentially harmful pesticides or herbicides, added salt, sugar, artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. In short, lasa siyang karton. Blecch. No wonder Malik wasn't interested.

Maybe you should just have pizza honey. You want?

One week later, Malik seems to have already eased into eating solids. He chomps on his spoon now. Amyum-yum-yum.

He even cries when we don't get the food into his mouth fast enough. Teehee

I feel bad feeding pogi boy this crappy tasting stuff, but it does look nutritious and Malik seems to like it so what the heck.   (Click to enlarge Earth's Best Organic Rice Cereal Nutrition Facts)

Next month, we will be taking on sweet potato, peas and carrots. I bought these jarred baby foods also from Earth's Best for good measure, but what I'd really like to do is puree Malik's food myself. Too bad the cost of a food processor is prohibitive. Maybe I could just pound on baby's food as a means to de-stress. Hmmm.
