Eclipse, Boracay

In October, I blogged a little about Malik's 2nd trip to Boracay. Here we are just to refresh everyone's memory. Dumdidum-didum -

But I forgot to mention where we stayed that time. We were booked at a small family-run resort called Eclipse.

It was located at Station 2 so plus points for not having to ride a multi-cab to get to where the "action" is, "action" being the food. The hotel is also at the beach front. We only had to take a few steps to get to the actual beach. Yey.

The rooms were big and fuss-free -

And the sheets were clean which was very important to me. Plus the owners/staff were friendly, efficient and very accomodating. Aprubs.

Unfortunately, Malik woke up on our 1st morning in Boracay with mosquito bites all over. Can you see the marks on his face here?

This happened even when Pao and I were already O.A. with the Giga Insect Repellant before we all went to bed. The next night, the very kind owners gave us an entire canister of Baygon. We thanked them for the thought but mosquito bites on the pogiboy are still not cool. Tsk.

The upside is that the mosquitoes in Eclipse apparently do not find adult blood appetizing. Pao and I remained unscathed throughout our stay.

So in conclusion, I recommend that you stay at the Eclipse ONLY when you DON'T have kids with you. The place gives value for money, but the savings are not worth stressing over potential dengue. (Rooms at P2,500/night by the way.)

So you'll remember

When you turned two, Malik, you loved Lightning McQueen. That's this world-famous race car here -

We pulled off your birthday party with less than a week of planning, thanks to Ebay and what we called Facebook. We had fun playing with Kinect, which was a device that compelled people to dance -

- while you cried your lungs out and/or rolled your eyes because you didn't want too many people around.

You were odd like that, which was cool. Because we loved you just the same - to the moon and back. :)

My spelling b-e-e

Tonight, as we were getting ready for bed, I asked Pao whether Malik already drank his "d-e-d-e". Malik smiled and said "dede!".

That's a yes then. Goodnight honey.

New Year, New Resolutions

Happy new year, world! I'm still sitting on the fence on whether I should continue publishing this blog. I am tempted to just keep a National Bookstore journal. Ha! Blogging (ack) has helped me keep track of milestones in our lives, from Malik's first baby steps to our family holidays. But finding the time and the inspiration has been difficult lately because of well, life. I've had to go to work, to school, run a home and raise a son while I was away from Blogger. I found it quite liberating.

On the other hand, I do miss getting published for free. Plus, I know that my mom keeps tabs on us only through this medium. Until she gets a Facebook account, maybe I'll hang around. Which reminds me... Ma, have you seen Malik's "pa-cute" face? Here it is -

Isn't that just darling?
