Or, as a friend so expertly observed, the folks over at The Capitol could look like Tessa Prieto-Valdez.

I realize now that I shouldn't expect too much of movies based on books that I have already read. It just kills whatever excitement all the reading has built. But I would not have watched The Hunger Games were it not for the books so I should just stop complaining. Sheesh.
Pao liked The Hunger Games even though he hasn't read the first of the series. That means the movie can stand on its own. What I'd like to know is, whether those watching the movie were able to pick up important details that I think should not have been glossed over.
For example, do they know that Gale's name is in the reaping bowl 40+ times that year because he took on tessarae? Was it made clear that Katniss was only feigning affection for Peeta? Does the audience know that a mockingjay is a cross between a blabberjay and a mockingbird and is intended to make a joke out of The Capitol? Katniss said "I love you both" to her mom and Prim when she was just about to leave for The Games. That was a very moving moment considering the relationship between Katniss and her mother. Why was that taken out?
